Everchanging Coats & Grooming
This page is to show how much the Maine Coon coats change over the span of their lives. Maine coons take 4-5 years to fully mature and develop. The first 1.5-2 years of their life is considered kitten stage. Their coats can change a lot over the growth period. At around 2-3 years they are at that weird teenager stage of theirs and by 3-4 years they should start to be fully fluffed out but some take till year 5. Around the last year size and fluff of the mane increase as well as the coat and color should be exactly as it will forever. Their overall weight should even out as well (provided your cat isn't a fatty). So when you are selecting your Maine Coon if you are being "coat specific" or "pattern specific" Hopefully this will make it a bit easier for you to get an idea of what you are looking for. But their coats do change a lot over time, this can be due to MANY different reasons. And with Smoke being our line it is hard to tell the full colors until they are done growing. Also some maine coons can get their fluff at a younger age. It can very by lines and climate.
